MBA Essay Tips: Describe a time when you questioned an established practice or thought within an organization. How did your actions create positive change?

Different organizations have different work cultures. Some blend into this so called corporate culture in due course of time, and a few take stands to go against the traditional actions. Innovation, persuasion and initiation are the prime elements of this essay. The admissions people want to hear your experiences, where you had put in your creative ideas and persuasion skills and taken initiatives to drift against something customary to a different yet successful innovative idea. Simultaneously, this essay focuses on your work ethics too. Sit, and think over all the inventive actions you had taken to bring about a change in the long established practice within your organization. Discuss an instance, when you had pioneered an innovative concept, taking a firm stand for something unpopular and implementing an uncustomary solution to a usual problem. The context can be professional or personal, however the solution you devised to it, needs to be unique and out-of-the-box. 

This essay will also provide an insight to the admission officers regarding your strong determination skills. Employ the SAR (Situation, Action and Result) hypothesis to break down your essay. Describe the case that made you think for a different course of action. Do narrate the established practice that was always being followed in your organization in response of the issue. 

In the Action part, write about the path you had to adopt to establish your thought? Whether you had to argue or to convince, or you took a leadership action? How did your team members react to your ideas? Exemplify the path that led from your thought process to the action and eventually to the results. The result part of this essay would be something that will attract the readers. Here, you need to demonstrate that, it was difficult to go against the little bit and move a group or organization out of customary principles and towards success. In the result part, you need to illustrate that you had taken complete opportunity of your autonomy to add value to your organization. Specifically focus, on emphasizing that your actions had created a positive change in your organization. And do describe the positive transformations that you had managed to bring to your organization. Use this prospect to showcase your out-of-the-box thinking, persuasion and innovation skills, unusual reasoning ability and strong intellectual courage.
